European leadership in e-science and grids
In November 2004 a number of pan-European evenements around e-infrastructure, Grid technology and e-Science will take place in The Netherlands: an open workshop of the eInfrastructure Reflection Group (eIRG), a closed meeting of the eIRG, conferences of four large Grid projects in the Sixth Framework programme (DEISA, DILIGENT, EGEE and SEE-GRID) and the Grid Summit, a plenary event that will bring together all those involved in the field of European e-Infrastructure (companies, knowledge institutes, researchers, NREN's, policy makers).

>> More about the events | Detailed outline of second week
Throughout the perspectives are explored and technical and political aspects of the use of an e-Infrastructure for both science and society highlighted - on a national, European and international level. Europe seems at this moment both technically and thanks to its inherently decentralised organisation ahead of other regions, and it is most important to keep the initative going and to build on what has been achieved already. What are the concrete steps and actions to be taken across technical, administrative and (supra) national domains? Which initiatives are currently being planned within Europe and how can project targets and interoperability be achieved? How can the cooperation with similar initiatives in other regions be promoted?
