National academic network
The Ministry for Culture and Education established in 1993 the EENet (Estonian educational
and research network) organisation
to manage and co-ordinate academic networking. This Ministry funds the use of EENet.
The budget for 2004 is € 0.76 million.
The backbone of EENet consists of a 1 Gbps link between Tallin and Tartu and 2, 4, 8 and 11 Mbps
connections to 16 other cities. International connectivity is provided by a 622 Mbps link to Stockholm (GÉANT).
