National academic network

SANET is the national research and academic network. All universities and research communities are connected to SANET as well as libraries, hospitals and other educational institutions. The SANET backbone is 1 Gbps. International connectivity is 1 Gbps to CESNET, 1 Gbps to ACONET and 2.5 Gbps (200 Mbps in use) to GÉANT.

The Ministry of Education supports the SANET organisation and provides 80% of its budget which in 2004 is € 1.9 million.
